After having three different roof inspections by two construction companies and my insurance and getting a different story from each of them I decided I needed somebody who was independent unbiased and worked for me. I did some digging and found a certification agency that certifies inspectors for roof inspections and found several in my area. A Light in the Attic was the first one that I called and John Rhodes was a great guy to talk too so I explained my situation and what I was looking for. Being able to hire him for a specific inspection and he not being a part of a construction company or insurance company was fantastic. He showed up on time he was incredibly thorough and very receptive to answering my questions and very descriptive in what he was doing why he was doing it and what it meant. Within 24 hours he provided me a written report that was incredibly well documented and descriptive. I feel very reassured after the work he has done for me because now I know what my expert says it's wrong and needs to be done and he isn't trying to deny my claim or sell me a roof. I would highly recommend him for any kind of inspection service because he was even able to point out several other things that he noted in passing. For my roof though I feel better equipped and better prepared to handle something that felt overwhelming before.

John Rhodes did the inspection on our house and did an amazing job. Our house was older (1978) and he went through very thorough and meticulously to detail every issue that was there. His attention to detail was outstanding, his report was very easy to follow and well documented in a way that is understandable and explainable even to people who don't have the technical background to understand. In some cases, I had concerns about items and he thoroughly detailed the issue or explained it in a way so that I could understand how urgent/critical or non-critical it actually was. As a side note, with his reports, there are pictures/videos and explanations of the issues. Where the issue is complicated and something only a tradesman would know, there is a write up with pictures that show how the item should actually look. This was invaluable on the older house we were looking at, as codes have changed and what looked like non-issue was presented in a way that was completely understandable. I don't post reviews and definitely never thought I would write one about home inspectors, however, John's professionalism and attention to detail is what would make me recommend him over anywhere else. I really appreciate the work he did for me and my family.
