John performed a pre-purchase inspection of an older home (built in 1971) for us, and if you're looking for a home inspector who is thorough, knowledgeable, and completely committed to representing the buyer's interests, I can't recommend him highly enough.He took the time to inspect every part of the home without taking shortcuts and explained everything he found in a clear, factual, and easy-to-understand way. There was no drama or exaggeration—just an honest, professional assessment backed by obvious expertise and attention to detail.John was not influenced by the seller or the real estate agents. It was clear that he worked for us, the buyers, and his only objective was to provide the information we needed to make a sound decision.Based on the results of his inspection, we made the difficult decision to cancel our purchase contract. We had an incredible experience with John and would highly recommend him to anyone to suspects they may have a mold problem in their home. He was clearly incredibly knowledgeable about mold and how it affects a home but did a great job explaining everything in a way we understood. He explained his process as well as what different findings would mean for us as home owners. He was very realistic but also did a great job putting our minds at ease.No one wants to have mold in their home but if you are looking for an honest, skilled, and truly helpful mold inspector, look no further. John has lots of experience as a home inspector and he brought so much value and education to our appointment, and was able to bring value beyond just the mold inspection. He talked to us about how to care for different things in the home (rather than hiring and paying extra money for someone else to fix simple problems). We utilized this Company for our Home Inspection during our option period. John was incredible. He was very thorough and took the time to explain processes to us and offered helpful insights on what it would take to remedy. He checked things we never would have considered looking at and he walked us through his report to physically show us any issue he found and why it was an issue. We would a million percent recommend him to any and everyone. He also gave us great recommendations for roofing and pest control.

We have used A Light in The Attic three (3) times and every interaction has been thorough. John has an understanding of building codes that arm the buyer in negotiations and prevent unnecessary costs. John helped us track down an obscure railing weight limit code which caused the seller to make necessary repairs on loose catwalk railing. John’s use of a moisture meter near a suspected leak area prevented us from inheriting a problem that would have cost tens of thousands of dollars to fix. One of his newer offerings is mold testing; which has provided peace of mind when buying homes in Kingwood. Lastly, John is so thorough, we want to use him to conduct a home inspection before we sell a home. We recommend John and A Light in the Attic to anyone that is buying or selling a home.

What a great experience! John came in to do a limited Mold inspection well prepared and was quite thorough. Throughout the inspection he asked AND answered questions about the process. We received an even handed evaluation that was not scary or pushy and he had no skin in the game regarding remediation IF we had mold. Just an honest evaluation. If you need the types of services he provides, by all means, he is the one you should contact. It is difficult enough to find people like John who do a professional job and are honest. My experience with A Light in the Attic was wonderful. I was on a particular timeline for a home I had under contract, but it was advice to have a mold inspector come in and do some testing. John was able to meet the goal of the timeline, but also able to provide expert communication and knowledge in the area of mold and other information. My realtor/broker made the comment to me that she plans to use him in the future. If you're reading this review, I would consider using John for your home/mold inspections.
